The VO₂ max is a valuable metric that measures the body's maximum oxygen absorption capacity during intense physical activity. A higher VO₂ max value is associated with a decreased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
The VO₂ max app, compatible with the Apple Watch, provides users with immediate access to their current VO₂ max value. With support for all complications, the Apple Watch transforms into an essential fitness tool.
Here's how it functions:
- The Apple Watch can estimate your VO₂ max by tracking your heart rate continuously during a brisk hike, walk, or outdoor run using the Workout app. The activity should last at least 20 minutes to generate enough heart rate data for accurate predictions.
Important:
- The prediction algorithm requires sufficient heart rate data, so only walks or runs are suitable activities.
- Ensure that the Workout app has GPS enabled while using it.
- Connect the app to the Apple Health app to display recorded data in the watch app, complication, or iPhone.
With iOS 14, users can conveniently view the latest measurement directly on their iPhone's home screen through a dedicated widget.
Please note that this app is compatible only with Apple Watch Series 3 or later models.
